Note to musicians: Don’t throw microphones into crowds.

While this advice seems simple, there’s apparently more than one musician who needs to hear it. Take, for example, Cardi B, who whipped a mic into the audience after someone threw a drink on her. Now, another musician is catching flack for doing the same thing.

During a concert in Los Angeles, 50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, seems to have thrown two mics toward the crowd. According to TMZ, one of those microphones hit a woman in the face.

“Power 106 radio host, Bryhana Monegain, was the woman hit and she filed a police report Wednesday night. Law enforcement sources tell us ... they believe 50 threw the mic at his crew in the production area and hit the victim,” reads the piece. “The victim told cops 50 looked directly at her before throwing the mic, so at least, according to her, 50 knew she was there. Bryhana went to the hospital with a laceration on her head.”

Why did 50 throw the mic at the crew in the first place? It’s unclear, but in the video, it appears that he’s getting frustrated with technical issues. In the two clips shown in the video, 50 seems annoyed by microphone issues, eventually casting the mics away in anger.

But is that an excuse for ripping a heavy object into a woman’s face? I think not — and apparently, Johnny Law doesn’t think so, either. Reportedly, Monegain filed a police report after the incident, so we’ll see what actually happens from here.

That said, 50’s attorney, Scott Leemon, claims it was all an accident, telling TMZ, “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis (aka 50 Cent) would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”

In short, if you’re going to see 50 Cent anytime soon, maybe consider bringing a shield.
